Addicted to Coffee

Kenn has her last final tomorrow (aka we will be celebrating!!) so we felt it was appropriate to write about our lifeline and love for coffee! In the past two and a half years we have ventured into many coffee shops in the Austin area (we can’t wait to share more about those findings soon) but today we decided to begin with Mozart’s Coffee Roasters. Both of us always start our mornings with a cup or two of coffee, but normally have one about mid afternoon as well to carry us through our day. With our busy lives combined with typical lack of sleep caffeine is just about the only thing that keeps us going.

Mozart’s is located in the heart of Austin right off of Lady Bird Lake, has a gorgeous view, and is perfect for the holidays. They decorate the entire shop (inside and out) with christmas lights, trees, and other holiday decorations! If you visit the shop at night they produce an extravagant a light show, where all the lights flash perfectly to the music. Mozart’s not only serves up a strong brew but they have the most delicious hot chocolate, and have dozens (we actually mean dozens) of sweet treats!

Usually, we both try and stay away from the desserts (yes this is a very difficult feat) and do our best to ensure that our drinks are low in sugar and calories to make sure we don’t crash mid study sesh. Kenn typically orders a nonfat cappuccino and Rach orders an almond milk latte. If we are needing a snack to go along with our coffee we will bring along a Quest bar or Fiber One brownie so we’re not tempted to splurge on the decadent desserts. They do look delicious, but we know our tummies would probably hurt a little too much if we had one (we’ve learned this from trial and error)!

Coffee shops are truly where we can get our ish done! Whether it’s cramming for a final, finishing a paper, reading a book, or even writing a blog post, they are perfect for just some peace and quiet. There is something about that smell of coffee beans and classical music that puts you in the mood to WORK. If you haven’t ventured here yet and live in Austin it is definitely worth the trip.

Continuing our Christmas Countdown… t-minus 6 days until Christmas!!

Cheers, Kenn and Rach
