Winter Cooking

Happy Wednesday! Can y’all believe it is finally December??  We hope everyone is staying warm… as we sure are here in Texas. One day we are freezing walking to class, but the next we are back in shorts and a t-shirt! Both of us are definitely warm weather girls, so making some warm meals around this time of year is an absolute must.

We both tend to follow healthy diets with limited meat, so when we came across this chili recipe on pinterest, we knew we had to try it! Yall, this was so tasty! The only modifications we made were to use ½ the amount of chili powder, 2 sweet potatoes, and an extra can of tomatoes. The ingredients for the chili were also super easy to grab, as we both use instacart and had all the seasonings on hand. We topped the chili with some Fage greek yogurt (tastes just like sour cream), avocado, and cilantro! Also, the best thing about this recipe, was how easy it was to make and we had plenty of leftovers for the next day. With our busy schedules and studying for our last exams, crock pot meals make eating healthy so much easier.

We both love hot chocolate too, so we did a post a while back about protein hot chocolate but this new one definitely wins! While there isn’t much protein in this version, the taste is much better. We both avoid dairy, so we mixed 1 cup of almond milk with the new Nestle Hot Cocoa Fat Free Rich Milk Hot Chocolate packs. These are only 25 calories a pack and we were shocked at how yummy it was. Of course, no hot chocolate is complete without marshmallows, so we added some mini marshmallows on top too. This hot chocolate makes for the perfect dessert and nighttime treat.

We can’t wait to continue sharing fun recipes we try with you all, and if you want to see more healthy recipes be sure to let us know!

Cheers, Kenn and Rach
