Exploring ATX

Happy Monday babes! What a weekend we had here in Austin,. They always feel like they fly by so fast and then Monday returns and hits with a BANG. Kenn has two tests this week and Rach is busy with group projects,, but we always love to write and treat ourselves to a little  brain break. Now that we are finally 21, we are excited to get to share some awesome spots to visit in Austin that involve a little bit of bubbly!! Don’t worry if you aren’t 21, both of these places are still great to visit; however, we had a fun time sipping some mimosas this past weekend and exploring Austin’s Rainey Street District.

This past weekend was Round Up Weekend for UT, but we ventured onto Rainey as we weren’t feeling up for the crazy party scene this year. If you don’t know what Round Up is, basically it’s a huge party here in West Campus (with a philanthropic component as this year each wristband was $10 with a portion going to charity), where fraternities host different rappers/artists to perform at their house. Everyone dresses up in jerseys, swimsuits, and there is lots and lots of glitter. Don’t get us wrong we love to have some fun, but we wanted to take our adventures elsewhere this weekend.  We decided to spend Friday on Rainey Street in Downtown Austin. Rainey Street is filled with bars and restaurants that have a more casual vibe.

Of course, we had to have brunch to start the weekend off, so we chose to eat at L’Estelle House and grabbed a carafe of their prosecco on tap from The Drafting Room. The Drafting Room is L’Estelles’ bar that is located behind the restaurant. We both ordered the veggie bowl, which was honestly a 10/10. The bowl came with tofu and breaded eggplant that was so delicious. We will definitely visit again and hope to take our families here soon. We also enjoyed live music and had fun catching up with each other after a long week.

Our next stop was Bangers Sausage House. They have a huge offering of beers on tap, but we opted to share a “manmosa” as they call it (made with an entire bottle of champagne)! This is definitely a drink you want to split with others. Apparently some people finish it by themselves, but we aren’t too sure how they achieve that. Bangers had a little more lively of an atmosphere than L’Estelle, but both were seriously amazing places to start the weekend off!

Saturday we celebrated one of our best friends 21st birthdays! We went to The Grove Wine Bar at their 6th street location. This is a great spot for birthdays, brunch, date night, you name it! We both ordered their flight one, which consisted of 3 different proseccos to try. For an appetizer we split their brussel sprouts (the go to app for us!!) and then of course ordered the same Seared Salmon Salad with no onions and dressing on the side! This was a great healthy option for us since we knew we would be drinking more later on in the evening with the birthday girl.

A little bit on our outfits from the picture, Rach was wearing a white off the shoulder top from BCBG. You can find a similar here. We both decided to stick with shorts since the weather is finally getting nice here in Austin. We are trying to enjoy every minute before it gets HOTT!

We hope if y’all decide to try these places you enjoy them as much as we did! As always we would love to hear from you!

Cheers, Kenn and Rach
