Tips and Tricks for Conquering 6th

First off, can y’all believe it is already APRIL?? We can’t! As much as we are done with this semester and ready for a break from all this school we are still enjoying our two months in April before we venture off into the world of internships.

Last week we attended our Delta Gamma Social Event at Summit Austin. This venue was located on 5th street with two bars upstairs a good sized dance for and lifted stage. It was perfect for our Delta Gamma sisters to mingle and have some fun after a full week of classes. We also had Roppolo’s, an Austin pizza staple, catered at the event (can you say yummm). However, some of our closest friends from our member class decided to venture down the block hours before the event for a sit down dinner.  Rach and Kenn enjoyed crispy salmon, cornbread, and delicious salsa at Z’Tejas off West 6th.

One thing that we have tried to focus on this semester is balance when it comes to going out and eating. This can be difficult for both of us, especially when we are drinking too.  We wanted to share some of best going out tips! Some of these might seem obvious, but honestly they are harder to do than you think!

  1. Choose a light but filling option at dinner.  Salmon is our go-to for this! It helps you to stay full for the night, but doesn’t make you feel full and bloated.
  2. Stay away from the sugary drinks! Cocktails can be fun but sugar + alcohol = not a fun morning! We normally stick with wine and “healthier mixed drinks.” Rach likes gin with topo and lime squeezed in! Kenn goes for deep eddy lemonade vodka with water and lemon squeezed in!
  3. Have healthy snacks waiting for you at home! Yes, the Roppolos at the social event looked very tasty, but we already had dinner and we knew some truffle popcorn was calling our names for our late night snacks.
  4. Have fun! Turn the focus away from food and worrying about calories to hanging out with you friends.
  5. Drink water! This really should be number one on the list. We also like drinking pedialyte before we go out too. This helps to make the morning much more pleasant.
  6. Plan an early morning workout. We both love to get up the next morning, have our coffee and breakfast and then hit the gym! This helps us to feel productive and get the next day started again.

For our outfits, Rach opted for a silk black dress with a lace front from CJane, and Kenn wore a floral romper also from our favorite Austin boutique, CJane. Rach paired her dress with Tory Burch booties and Kenn wore her thigh high black boots from CJane as well.  (As you can tell we are literally obsessed with this store!)

We can’t believe how fast 2018 has gone by but are excited to share more content with y’all as our semesters wind down!

Cheers, Kenn and Rach
