Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole holds a special place in Rach’s heart. Her family has visited many times and there is just something about being in the mountains and away from the craziness of Texas that makes it such a relaxing place.

Her ski trip there this past week has been full of adventure and lots of yummy food to say the least. Some of her favorite places to eat are located in Teton Village right by the base of the mountain. She loves Villaggio Osteria, The Handle Bar, and Teton Thai (literally one of the best Thai places ever… and it's in Wyoming!!). Back in the town of Jackson her favorite restaurants are Cafe Genevieve (a great breakfast spot), Persephone Bakery, Gather and Snake River Grill. One of the best local spots in the village is a bar called The Mangy Moose. It is a great after ski spot where you can listen to live music, have a couple drinks, and just relax.

We normally stay in one of the Silver Star cabins just off the golf course. These cabins are absolutely gorgeous and are the perfect spot to curl up and read a book right by the fire. The view of the mountains from here are gorgeous and the golf club shuttles you to the base of the mountain for easy “ski in, ski out” access!

Skiing is one of Rach’s favorite types of vacations because it is a great way to exercise while you are still on vacation. We find vacation amazing, but both stress out about the lack of exercise compared to calorie intake when it comes to traveling. With skiing even just going down about 4 runs you typically will burn about 250 calories. Although, it is important to not constantly stress about what you’re eating, for us this can be difficult. Skiing provides that little bit of comfort knowing you’re not completely killing all the hard work you have been putting in at the gym over the last couple of weeks!

We hope y’all have had a wonderful winter break and are enjoying these last couple of days before school starts. Looks like it is going to snow in Austin on Tuesday (...maybe the first day of school will be canceled!!).

Cheers, Kenn and Rach
